Below is some information about Los Alcazares and the immediate
vicinity to help familarise you with Sonriente.
Shopping and Eating out ....
There are supermarkets within a few minutes walk and smaller shops,
grocers, fish mongers etc within 10 minutes. The Plaza is an area about
a 10 minute walk which has a variety of shops, restaurants for most
tastes, bars and cafes.
A Saturday street market is only a matter of minutes away held on the
main road slightly nearer to the beach. The road is closed and hundreds
of stalls are set up to wander around, starting at around 10am. On
Tuesdays there is another market of similar size in the centre of Los
Alcazares, just metres from the beach, approximately a 25min walk. You will be spoilt for choice when eating out as there is huge selection of restaurants and bars to choose, serving all manner of fayre from simple Tapas to Spanish fine dining.
La Encarnacion
La Encarnacion - Hotel, Restaurant, Tapas Bar and Spa ....
Built in 1904. The Encarnacion is situated at the western end of the
promenade in the old sector of Los Alcazares overlooking the Mar Menor,
approximately a 35min walk along the promenade.
Well worth a visit not just as a restaurant but a place to enjoy a
simple coffee and take in the vista,
The tapas is extremely varied and very good value for money. The inner
courtyard is truly a garden paradise and the venue for afternoon dance
and evening concerts throughout the main summer months with live music
of all genre.
It is also the site of the local Spa baths famous for their mineral
qualities.
If you have a special occassion to celebrate or feel like a treat, book
an evening meal in the colonial style restaurant and experience the
very best Los Alcazares can offer in fine dining.
Water Sports

Spinosa Kite Surfing centre and bar/cafe is situated
at the Eastern end of the promenade and is a great place to see and
experience various water sports.

Bird Watching

The immediate locality and surrounding countyside is renowned for bird
watching and within walking distance there is a wetland reed area that
has been setup with a series of boardwalks and hides.
Situated at the Eastern end of the promenade beyond the Spinosa centre
it is within a 20 minute walk of the villa.
